DSO bridge calculator
DSO is receivables divided by sales, and either one can move it. This splits a movement between two periods into a sales effect and a receivables effect, so the question goes to the right place before anyone asks AR what happened.
The method, and what the split can and can’t tell you, is in Did sales or receivables move DSO?
Type credit sales and month-end receivables for two periods: last month and this month, or forecast and actual. Any currency and any unit, as long as both periods use the same. Everything is calculated on your machine. The numbers are not sent anywhere and not saved.
Use it on a movement worth explaining. It will split a routine wobble too, and the two numbers will describe noise. The XmR calculator tells you which is which.
30 for a month of sales, 90 for a quarter, 365 for a year. Use the convention your DSO already uses.
Want it for every month of the year? Download the Excel version.
The split and the chart appear here once both periods are filled in.
